Coronavirus-parent compensation

Since March 30, 2020, a new regulation on parents' compensation in the Corona crisis has been in effect.

Employed custody lawyers who now have to look after their children for school and daycare centers themselves often suffer loss of earnings.

According to Section 56 (1) a a Infection Protection Act, the so-called "parent compensation" is to catch these special hardships. The claim for compensation is limited to a maximum of EUR 2,016.00 per month.

The parents' compensation receive employment rights for children who have not yet reached the age of 12 or have hindered them and are therefore dependent on help.

The claim only exists if no other reasonable care option for the child can be ensured in the period of closure or ban on the childcare facility or the school.

There is also a claim for foster parents who have included a child in full -time care in accordance with Section 33 SGB VIII.

Applications

The application for parent compensation must be made by the employer. This takes over the payment of the compensation. He can then have the compensation service reimbursed at the responsible authority.
