Expansion of the additional earnings during short -time work

Easier additional earnings options

Since April 1, 2020 to October 31, 2020, the following special regulation applies: Anyone who takes up employment in a system -relevant area during short -time work does not have to be credited to the short -time work allowance. The total income from the amount of work that is still paid and the short -time work allowance as well as the additional earnings must not exceed the normal net income.

Regulation helps those affected by short -time work and strengthens systemically relevant industries and professions

These loosened additional earnings help those affected in short -time work money to compensate for financial losses. The secondary activity is also free of insurance for unemployment insurance.

System -related industries and professions

The so-called "Ordinance on the Determination of Critical Infrastructures according to the BSI Act" (BSI Critis Ordinance) determines whether an industry or a profession is systemically relevant.

The following list is based on the BSI criticism.

  • Energy
    , gas, fuel supply (including logistics) (e.g. municipal energy supplier)
  • Water and disposal
    of sovereign and private law water supply, as well as the waste disposal (e.g. garbage workers, waterworks, sewage treatment plant)
  • Nutrition and hygiene
    production, wholesale and retail (including supply, logistics) (e.g. farmers, harvest helpers, sellers)
  • Information technology and telecommunications
    in particular interference and maintaining networks (e.g. computer scientists, system electronics technicians)
  • Health
    hospitals, emergency services, care, resident area, medical device manufacturer, pharmaceutical manufacturer, pharmacies, laboratories
  • Financial and business system
    credit supply for companies, cash supply, social transfers
  • Transport and traffic
    in particular operation for critical infrastructures, public and freight transport as well as flight and shipping traffic
  • Media
    in particular news and information as well as risk and crisis communication
  • State administration (federal, state, municipal)
    core tasks of public administration and judiciary (e.g. police, fire brigade, disaster protection)
  • Schools, child and youth welfare, disabled assistance
    personnel who ensure the necessary support in schools, day care centers, day care, child and youth welfare facilities as well as in institutions for people with disabilities.
