On November 22, 2022, the general assembly of the Association of Dioceses in Germany (VDD) decided on a new version of church labor law in the form of the "basic order of church service" as a recommendation for the German (ore) dioceses. It replaces the basic order of April 27, 2015, which was subjected to evaluation after a few years. The articles of the basic order form the legal basis of the working constitution of the Catholic Church in Germany.
It applies to the approximately 800,000 employees in the Catholic Church and their Caritas.
On March 23, 2023, an information and advisory day for the updated basic order will take place at the Social Institute in Dortmund.
